A memoir doesn’t only capture the adventures of a lifetime, it also adds new experiences to an already rich life. For instance, after writing about growing up poor in Appalachian Kentucky, moving out West, earning a PhD, becoming a professor, sailing the Caribbean for twenty winters, and learning to play the steel drums, Ruth Parsons is now enjoying the new experience of talking with friends old and new about her book. Shown here, Ruth (right) is at one of her book launch events near her home in Colorado. Next on her list: continue to set up visits to book clubs where booklovers are often interested in hearing authors’ “writing and producing my book” stories and in asking questions about the book’s content.
